Greasewood (Sarcobatus vermiculatus) shrubs are the first colonizers of extremely saline shorelines at Mono Lake, CA and many other saline desert environments. (Dr. Jim Richards)


Experimental plots with salt, heat, and drought tolerant native species (saltgrass, Parry's saltbush, bush seepweed, and greasewood) that may be used in restoration and dust mitigation on saline playa surfaces, like the Owens dry lake playa.(Dr. Jim Richards)
